Duties
- Responsible for overseeing the overall strategic operations, financial outcomes, and legislative initiatives of the Health System.
- Supports the strategic directions of the Children’s Health System Board of Directors.
Background
- Served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of CHKD from 1994 to 2002 and was responsible for the overall management of all clinical, ancillary, facility and support services for CHKD, its Medical Group and its Surgical Group practices.
- From 1987 to 1993, served as Senior Vice President at Richmond Memorial Hospital; also held senior management positions at hospitals in Texas and Minnesota.
Education
- Dahling received a Master of Health Administration degree from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University after graduating from the nursing program at Winona State University in Minnesota and receiving a Master of Nursing Administration degree from the University of Minnesota.

- Barnes has been with CHKD since 1994 and has served as CIO since 1998. She has 36 years of experience in information technology, 29 years of healthcare information technology experience, and 26 years of experience in management.
- Barnes was Assistant Director of Medical Systems for Sentara Health System where she worked for over nine years. Prior to that she developed and subsequently managed the development of software for the U.S. military.

- Bowers has more than 36 years of experience in human resources. He joined Children’s Health System, Inc., in 1997 as Director of Human Resources and was promoted to his current position in 2003.
- Prior to joining CHS, Bowers spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy ship repair and engineering industry and was responsible for all human resources functions as well as serving in a variety of administrative roles.

- As Chief Nursing Officer, Burke is responsible for Nursing, Respiratory Therapy and Child Life. Responsibilities also include oversight of the inpatient units, including Sedation and the Emergency Department.

- Burke has extensive experience in the development and management of surgical programs and has held various leadership positions, including vice president of clinical services, executive vice president of ambulatory services and chief operating officer, at hospitals in Virginia and Ohio.

- Grew up in California and Virginia Beach, where Callahan became interested in CHKD when her mother, Joyce Permenter, chaired the Holly Ball, The King's Daughters’ oldest annual fund-raising event.
- Served as a defense contractor in Washington, D.C., working for Naval Sea Systems Command, Naval Air Systems Command and NASA.

- Prior to joining CHKD Health Systems in 2010, Hamilton accumulated nearly 20 years of health care industry experience, including eight years as the Vice President of Payor Relations for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, located in Columbus, Ohio.
- Hamilton also held the position of Executive Director of Partners for Kids, where he led the growth and development of one of the most successful pediatric physician hospital organizations in the country.

- Prior to joining Amerigroup, Matson practiced law with the firm Williams Mullen in Richmond, Virginia, and the firm Kaufman and Canoles here in Norfolk. Her practice focused on health law and healthcare transactions.

- Prior to joining CHKD, Ryan spent 17 years in financial leadership at Children's Hospital of Central California in Madera, Calif., ultimately becoming FCO, and five years in public accounting and small business consultant.

- Responsible for oversight of clinical programs, with particular emphasis on enhancing the quality of care and improving patient safety. Also provides oversight of infection control, pharmacy, risk management and utilization review/medical management.

- Dr. Zaritsky served as the Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the University of Florida prior to his present role at CHKD.
- Dr. Zaritsky has also served as a faculty member at Children's Hospital National Medical Center and as the Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the University of North Carolina.
Education
- Dr. Zaritsky received his Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. Completed medical school Magna Cum Laude at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, followed by a pediatric residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. After serving in the Navy as a general pediatrician for two years, completed fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at the Children's Hospital National Medical Center in Washington.
