Effective Parenting Techniques Headline Free, Public Program
"Discipline - What Works, What Doesn't and Why"
HAMPTON ROADS, Va. -- A free, public program on effective parenting and discipline techniques will be presented at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters' Brickhouse Auditorium, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, 7-8:30 p.m., October 10. Bryan Post, Ph.D., a licensed clinical social worker who practices in Oklahoma and who specializes in the treatment of children and families, will be the featured speaker.
The program, entitled "Discipline - What Works, What Doesn't and Why," will look at a variety of discipline methods, including: boot camp tactics, behavior modification, logic and reasoning, spanking, yelling, respite and time-out, ignoring, contracting and peer play.
Dr. Post has spent the past several years studying and providing consultation in the field of attachment and bonding, and he routinely uses his expert knowledge to assist parents in feeling empowered and helping children to feel loved. He also is an internationally recognized specialist in the treatment of emotionally challenged adopted children and their families.
