CHKD Offers Classes for Expectant and New Parents
“Birth and Beyond”
HAMPTON ROADS, Va. — A four-week series of classes for expectant and new parents – “Birth & Beyond” – will be offered by Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters each Monday, 7-8:45 p.m., March 17 through April 7, in the hospital’s 5th floor conference room, 601 Children’s Lane, Norfolk.
The series will include presentations led by:
A pediatrician, who will offer tips for selecting the right doctor and answer questions about hospital procedures, follow-up care, immunizations and common newborn care concerns.
A car seat expert, who will explain the latest laws and demonstrate how to correctly install an infant car seat. Important tips and demonstrations on childproofing a home also will be offered.
A lactation specialist, who will discuss issues about positioning and latching on, breast tenderness, pumping and storing breast milk and returning to work.
A parent educator, who will review common changes taking place in a family and how to handle the stress.
