CHKD Offers Free Lecture on Teens and Inhalants
Hampton Roads, Va -- Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters will host a free lecture for parents on the use of inhalants and poisons among adolescents. "Teens & Inhalants: Is your child using toxic household items to get high?" will be held March 27, 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Brickhouse Auditorium at CHKD.
Research indicates that one in every five middle and high school students have used inhalants. Inhalant abuse has joined alcohol and marijuana as one of the top three drugs of choice among children of grade-school age. Evelyn Waring, education coordinator at Virginia Poison Control, will offer advice on what inhalant use is and what the signs and symptoms are.
This lecture is free and open to the public. Registration is necessary and can be done by calling the CHKD Health Line at 668-7500 or at www.chkd.org.
