Already in it’s 20th year, “The CHKD Woody Classic” has raised over $285,000 for Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters. The tournament is named in honor of Walter W. “Woody” Wood who founded the event with his wife, Athaleen, in 1984 to benefit CHKD. The management of the American Golf Corp., owners of the course, the Will Carder Real Estate team, Southern Trust Mortgage Company, and Moon Engineering, have all worked extensively to sponsor this fun and exciting event. Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters is the only facility of its kind in Virginia, and serves the medical and surgical needs of children throughout greater Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and northeastern North Carolina.
