CHKD’S FAMILY FUN DAY CELEBRATES OPENING OF NEW PENINSULA HOME
NEWPORT NEWS, (Va) -- Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters will celebrate the opening of its new Health Center in the Oyster Point area of Newport News with a Family Fun Day, July 17, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Parents and their children can enjoy a variety of featured activities and events, such as:
Car seat safety checks (11 a.m.-1 p.m.)Moonwalk and face paintingFire engine and fire safety informationBike police with bike safety demonstrationsCHKD’s mobile intensive care unitCHKD’s Healthy Bear and clownsCarnival games and prizesA unique Teddy Bear Tour for the kidsRefreshmentsIn addition, the Health Center will be open and available for tours. Physicians, nurses, therapists and other hospital employees will answer questions about the building and its services, which include:
A primary care practice, Newport News PediatricsOffices for a variety of pediatric specialists and surgeons providing evaluation, treatment and follow-up careA full complement of rehabilitative therapy, including physical, occupational and speech therapyDiagnostic and laboratory servicesCHKD’s Health Center at Oyster Point is located at 11783 Rock Landing Drive in Newport News near the Omni Hotel, just off I-64’s J. Clyde Morris Boulevard exit. It is the hospital’s first permanent home on the Peninsula and will service patients and families from Newport News, Hampton, York County, Poquoson, Gloucester, Williamsburg and beyond.
Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is the only facility of its kind in Virginia, serving the medical and surgical needs of children throughout greater Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1961 and provides care to nearly 150,000 children each year as inpatients and outpatients, addressing routine and complex illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions. The CHKD Health System operates primary care pediatric practices, surgical practices, multi-service Health Centers and satellite offices throughout its service region. The organization also includes a child care center, Center for Pediatric Research, health education initiatives and a multitude of avenues through which our very generous community provides philanthropic support, including numerous Thrift Store locations.
