Newport News City Park will be the site of a spectacular free car show to benefit Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters on Saturday, Oct. 23. Sponsored by the Virginia Peninsula Car Club Council, the Newport News Police Department and the Newport News Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, the 2nd Annual Virginia Fall Classic will feature hundreds of interesting cars, trucks, hot rods, classics, big and small trucks, imports, exotics, motorcycles, customs, race cars and more. Tractors, small engines, and police and fire equipment will also be on display. There will be food vendors, music and activities for children. Spectators can view cars from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park located on Jefferson Avenue in Newport News. The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1961 and provides care to nearly 130,000 children each year as inpatients and outpatients, addressing routine and complex illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions. The CHKD Health System operates primary care pediatric practices, surgical practices, multi-service Health Centers and satellite offices throughout its service region. The organization also includes a child care center, Center for Pediatric Research, health education initiatives and a multitude of avenues through which our very generous community provides philanthropic support, including numerous Thrift Store locations.
