Have fun on the high seas while helping Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters with the ABNB Federal Credit Union Deep Sea Fishing Fest on May 20. The boat will depart for a half-day of fishing from Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach and drop anchor about 12 miles off the coast. Take your best aim at capturing awards such as largest and smallest catch, best fishing tale and best fight while reeling in. The boat departs from the Virginia Beach Fishing Center at the corner of 5th Street and Pacific Avenue at 8 a.m., and returns at noon for a pier-side luncheon and awards ceremony. Tackle, bait, fish bags and fishing licenses are included in the $50 per person registration fee. Registration is due by May 10. For more information, call Jessica Lee at (757) 460-1141 or CHKD Community Relations at (757) 668-7070. Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is the only facility of its kind in Virginia, serving the medical and surgical needs of children throughout greater Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1961 and provides care to nearly 130,000 children each year as inpatients and outpatients, addressing routine and complex illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions. The CHKD Health System operates primary care pediatric practices, surgical practices, multi-service Health Centers and satellite offices throughout its service region. The organization also includes a child care center, Center for Pediatric Research, health education initiatives and a multitude of avenues through which our very generous community provides philanthropic support, including numerous Thrift Store locations.
