CHKD’S WEIGHT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN NOW OFFERED ON THE PENINSULA
NEWPORT NEWS, (Va) – With the opening of its new Health Center in the Oyster Point area of Newport News, Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters is now able to offer its unique pediatric weight management program to families from the Peninsula. The first class series will be held September 23-November 4.
Called “Healthy You”, the program is designed to help overweight children gain control of their weight and improve their lifestyles. Parents and children work together during the seven-week lifestyle class series to focus on all aspects of weight management, including diet and food planning, physical activity and emotional support. Components of the Healthy You program are:A seven-week lifestyle class with a monthly aftercare groupA half-day assessment clinicMental health evaluation and support
The first class series will be held for 8-11 year olds every Thursday, 6:30-8 p.m., Sept. 23-Nov. 4 at the CHKD Health Center in Oyster Point, 11783 Rock Landing Drive in Newport News near the Omni Hotel, just off I-64’s J. Clyde Morris Boulevard exit.
