KOHL’S DEPARTMENT STORES PARTNERS WITH ACTRESS/AUTHOR JAMIE LEE CURTIS TO SUPPORT CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL OF THE KING’S DAUGHTERS
HAMPTON ROADS, (Va) – Kohl’s Department Stores and actress/author Jamie Lee Curtis are joining forces in an effort to improve health and educational opportunities for children.
In July and throughout the back-to-school season, Kohl’s stores in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and across the country will sell books written by Curtis, a New York Times, best-selling children’s book author, for a fraction of the typical retail price. Each hard-cover book will be sold for $5 at Kohl’s stores and at www.kohls.com
, with 100 percent of the net profits benefiting CHKD and 67 other Kohl’s children’s hospital partners. Also available for $5 each are colorful, plush characters such as alligators, octopuses, chameleons, frogs and geckos.
Curtis’s best-selling books, including “Today I Feel Silly,” “I’m Gonna Like Me,” “Where Do Balloons Go” and “When I Was Little,” as well as the plush toys, will be available in specially designated displays near the entrance of the stores. Kohl’s is located near Pembroke Mall in Virginia Beach and off Battlefield Blvd. in Chesapeake.
The Jamie Lee Curtis merchandise is part of the Kohl’s Cares for Kids program, which focuses on supporting health and education opportunities for children. The items are the latest in a successful line of merchandise made especially for sale at Kohl’s in support of children’s hospitals.
Since its inception in 2000, the Kohl’s Cares for Kids program has made special merchandise available for purchase in support of children’s hospitals every spring, summer, fall and holiday season. The net profits support programs that are tailored to each individual hospital’s needs.
Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is the only facility of its kind in Virginia, serving the medical and surgical needs of children throughout greater Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1961 and provides care to nearly 150,000 children each year as inpatients and outpatients, addressing routine and complex illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions. The CHKD Health System operates primary care pediatric practices, surgical practices, multi-service Health Centers and satellite offices throughout its service region. The organization also includes a child care center, Center for Pediatric Research, health education initiatives and a multitude of avenues through which our very generous community provides philanthropic support, including numerous Thrift Store locations.
