Pediatric Specialists' Hearts Are With Region's Children
HAMPTON ROADS, Va.—A recent gift of $400,000 to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters from the pediatric professionals of Children’s Specialty Group PLLC proved once again their hearts are with the children of the region.
The private, multi-specialty practice, based at Children’s Hospital, used the gift to establish an endowment for the CHKD Child Abuse Program and to provide funds to the Eastern Virginia Medical School department of pediatrics at CHKD to stimulate research and other academic activities.
“This wonderful gift illustrates the magnificent commitment these physicians make to the children they care for daily and to the only local hospital exclusively dedicated to children,” said Beth Duke, senior vice president for community relations.
Children’s Specialty Group, established in 1998, is comprised of 50 partners representing 19 pediatric subspecialties.
Svinder Toor, M.D., president of CSG, said, “Our members are especially proud to be working with and at an organization such as CHKD and to make our gift on behalf of programs that tend to the victims of child abuse and that enhance the academic mission of the pediatric faculty.”
Frank Singleton, chief executive officer of CSG, added, “Our physicians came together to make a lasting contribution to children served in some very critical areas.”
CHKD serves the medical and surgical needs of children throughout greater Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1961 and provides care to nearly 150,000 children each year as inpatients and outpatients, addressing routine and complex illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions.
