Homearama Gala Charity Preview to Benefit CHKD Set for Oct. 8
HAMPTON ROADS, Va. – Homearama 2004 will get underway Friday, Oct. 8,with a Gala Charity Preview to benefit Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at East Beach in the Ocean View area of Norfolk.
Reflecting Homearama's theme of "A simple life on the Chesapeake Bay," the gala will celebrate the classics of traditional coastal living: a feast of fresh seafood and other culinary delights prepared by Fresh Events, the catering division of Farm Fresh, and jazz standards from "Now and Then," featuring long-time "Tonight Show" band member and Portsmouth native, Tommy Newsome.
Winners of the coveted Homearama design awards will be announced at the gala's opening ceremony, after which patrons will be invited to tour the 17 spectacular beach homes of 2004 Homearama.
Gala tickets are $50 a person and include food and beverages. All proceeds from the evening benefit Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, which provides child-centered medical care to more than 150,000 young people in our community every year. Homearama will be open for general admission from Oct. 9 to 24. From the previous 16 Homearamas, $870, 910 has been donated to charity.
