HAMPTON ROADS, Va.—Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters Health System recently appointed Pamela Combs and Elizabeth Lanoue, M.D., both of Norfolk, to its governing board of directors. The new appointees will serve three-year terms. Combs has a master’s degree in education from the University of South Carolina and a professional background in health education and management. She also serves on the board of trustees of Norfolk Collegiate School. Lanoue, is a family practice physician with Maryview Medcare and is a graduate of Old Dominion University and Eastern Virginia Medical School. Both women are active members of the Norfolk City Union of The King’s Daughters, the hospital’s founding organization. Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is the only facility of its kind in Virginia, serving the medical and surgical needs of children throughout greater Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1961 and provides care to more than 150,000 children each year as inpatients and outpatients, addressing routine and complex illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions. The CHKD Health System operates primary care pediatric practices, surgical practices, multi-service Health Centers and satellite offices throughout its service region. The organization also includes a child care center, the Center for Pediatric Research, health education initiatives and a multitude of avenues through which the community provides philanthropic support.
