HAMPTON ROADS, Va.—CHKD Health System recently welcomed Pediatric Associates of Williamsburg into its family of Medical Group primary care pediatric practices. The practice, established in 1994 by Georgia A. Prescott, M.D., and Gerald W. DeWitt, M.D., was formerly a member of Sentara’s Williamsburg Community Medical Group. Practicing with Dr. Prescott and Dr. DeWitt are board certified pediatricians Mark C. Downey and Kristina N. Powell and certified pediatric nurse practitioners Beverly C. Coleman and Jane F. Henley. Currently located across the street from Williamsburg Community Hospital at 230 Monticello Avenue, the practice will move this summer to a brand new home across from the Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in the Lightfoot area. CHKD Medical Group is a consortium of 13 pediatric practices with 18 locations throughout greater Hampton Roads, offering health care for children from birth to college and a direct link to CHKD for specialty care and diagnostic services. And through CHKD’s Reach Out and Read childhood literacy program, children from ages 6 months to 5 years receive free books when they come for regular checkups. Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is the only facility of its kind in Virginia. The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1961 and provides care to approximately 160,000 children each year as inpatients and outpatients. The CHKD Health System operates primary care pediatric practices, surgical practices, multi-service Health Centers and satellite offices throughout the region.
