Tour de Cuisine to benefit CHKD
A unique home and chef experience Sunday, May 15th, in Norfolk’s historic Ghent
(Norfolk, VA) Diners looking for a novel gourmet experience can enjoy delicacies from six of the area’s most popular restaurants at a Tour de Cuisine, Sunday, May 15th, from 1 to 5 p.m. in Norfolk. Sponsored by the Norfolk City Union of The King’s Daughters to benefit Children's Hospital of The King’s Daughters, the event will take place in six elegant homes, all located within walking distance of each other along Mowbray Arch and Colonial Avenue in Ghent.
In each stop along the tour, a local chef will demonstrate how to prepare a dish, which ticket holders can then sample, along with suitable wines or cocktails. Participating restaurants include Bardo, Lucky Star, Market Fare, 219, Voila and Velvet 25.
Grilling guru Chris Schlesinger, of East Coast Grill and Raw Bar in Cambridge, Massachusetts, will provide grilled fare and tips for cooking over the coals. The Virginia native is author of eight cookbooks and has a monthly feature on grilling in The New York Times. More information on Schlesinger can be found at www.eastcoastgrill.net.
Other highlights of the Tour de Cuisine include raffle items at each home and elaborate table settings created by members of the Norfolk City Union of The King’s Daughters and area interior and floral designers.
Tickets are $40 in advance, $50 at the door, available by calling (757) 668-7098.
