WORKSHOP FOR PROFESSIONALS
“Raising Your Spirited Child -- Helping Children to be Successful”
HAMPTON ROADS, Va.—A workshop for professionals entitled “Raising Your Spirited Child – Helping Children to be Successful” will be held October 7, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., at the Double Tree Hotel, 1900 Pavilion Drive, Virginia Beach.
The program will focus on: understanding individual differences in children; creating visions that emphasize strengths; effective discipline techniques that preclude hassles and maximize joys; strengthening adult-child relationships and learning about yourself as you learn about children.
The featured presenter will be Mary Sheedy Kurcinka, a best-selling author and noted radio and television commentator who provides training nationally and internationally to thousands of families and the professionals who serve them. A former director of one of Minnesota’s largest Early Childhood Family Education programs, she also provides individual parent consultations for families and professionals. She is licensed as a parent and early childhood teacher.
The workshop is targeted to parents, teachers, guidance counselors, probation and parole officers, social workers, counselors, psychotherapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, nurses and physical, occupational and speech therapists.
Participants will receive a certificate of attendance for 6.0 contact hours. Continuing education credits will be available through Old Dominion University and Norfolk State University.
