NORFOLK, Va. -- Homearama 2005 will open its doors from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, with a Gala Charity Preview to benefit Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters. There, guests will meet downtown Norfolk’s new neighbors in Broad Creek. Tickets for the coat-and-tie gala are $50 each ($55 after September 23) and include international cuisine and beverages catered by Fresh Events, the catering division of Farm Fresh. To purchase tickets, call 420-2334 or 668-7070 or log onto Winners of the coveted Homearama design awards will be announced at the gala's opening ceremony, after which patrons will be invited to tour the 18 showcase homes, including “The Gift of Wes,” the 2005 Tidewater Builders Association Charity House to benefit CHKD. Broad Creek, located near Ballentine Boulevard and Princess Anne Road, is a mixed-use, mixed-income neighborhood developed by the Norfolk Redevelopment & Housing Authority. The neighborhood offers something for everyone -- from first-time buyers to retirees -- with a variety of dwellings including transitional single-family homes, Craftsman cottages and traditional townhouses.
