10th Annual Chronic Illness Conference

Children in our care: collaboration for success

HAMPTON ROADS, Va.—Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters’ 10th Annual Chronic Illness Conference will be held November 17, 8 a.m.-4:15 p.m., at the Chesapeake Conference Center, 900 Greenbrier Circle, Chesapeake. The conference is designed for educators, health professionals, social workers, psychologists, guidance counselors and parents. Interactive workshops and demonstrations will afford participants opportunities to: gain knowledge of chronic illnesses and the medical, educational and psychosocial impacts on children; understand the challenges in special education and the law; receive updated information on transitional services, including creating a safe environment for affected children; acquire information on conditions related to orthopedics, ophthalmology, dermatology and pulmonology; identify successful behavioral techniques; and discover ways to empower parents, schools and physicians to meet the needs of children with chronic illnesses. Continuing education credits will be allotted for educational personnel and nurses. Conference fee is $65 pre-registered prior to November 11 by mail or online; on-site registration is $75, if space is available.
