Free Parent's Workshop Series Presented by CHKD and Kohl's
June 20: “What kids really need”
HAMPTON ROADS, Va.
—The ninth, and final, in a year-long series of parenting workshops on developing better relationships with children will be presented by Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters and Kohl’s Department Stores on June 20, 7-9 p.m., at the CHKD Health Center at Oyster Point, 11783 Rock Landing Drive, Newport News.
The workshop -- “What kids really need” – will explore why children act like they do, how adults can develop better ways to relate to them and why discipline isn’t always the answer to better relationships with children.
Featured presenter for this workshop is Karen DeBord, PhD, associate director of graduate programs in the department of family and consumer sciences at North Carolina State University, Raleigh. She conducts applied research and develops educational materials and programs in the areas of child care teacher training, professional development for parenting educators and parenting education.
The workshop is free, but seating is limited and advance registration is requested. For more information or to register call (757) 668-7500 or visit www.chkd.org/calendar, where information about future CHKD workshops also is available.
The lecture series is made possible by a $45,700 grant from Kohl’s through its Kohl’s Cares for Kids Campaign.
