CHKD Health System Names New Board Members
HAMPTON ROADS, Va.—Two area residents were recently named to the board of directors of the CHKD Health System. The new appointees will serve three-year terms. They are:
- Maurice A. Jones of Norfolk. Jones is vice president and general manager of The Virginian-Pilot.
- Sarah M. Bishop of Norfolk. Bishop is director of the United Way of South Hampton Roads “Success by 6” program and has been a member of the Maltese Cross Circle of the Norfolk City Union of The King’s Daughters, the hospital’s founding organization, since 1984.
Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is the only facility of its kind in Virginia, serving the medical and surgical needs of children throughout greater Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1961 and provides care to approximately 162,000 children each year as inpatients and outpatients, addressing routine and complex illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions. The CHKD Health System operates primary care pediatric practices, surgical practices, multi-service Health Centers and satellite offices throughout its service region.
