Kohl’s Offers Classic Dr. Seuss Stories to Benefit Children’s Health and Education Opportunities
In Celebration of the Holiday Season, Retailer Offers Exclusive Collector’s Editions of Popular Dr. Seuss® Books and Matching Plush Characters
HAMPTON ROADS, Va., Oct. 19, 2006 – Just in time for the holidays, Kohl’s Department Stores is bringing classic stories to customers nationwide. Kohl’s is excited to offer exclusive collector’s editions of the following Dr. Seuss® books: The Sneetches; One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish; Green Eggs and Ham; and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Kohl’s is also offering the corresponding stuffed animals.
As part of its Kohl’s Cares for Kids® program, Kohl’s stores across the country will feature the exclusive items for $5 each with 100 percent of the net profits benefiting children’s health and educational opportunities in Kohl’s communities nationwide. The items will also be available online at www.Kohls.com. Locally, Kohl’s partners with Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in supporting free workshops for parents and professionals on developing better relationships with children. Since 2004, Kohl’s has given CHKD more than $125,000 to support educational workshops and the pediatrician-based Reach Out and Read literacy program.

The Sneetches: This imaginative story and rhyme resonates with readers young and old as they consider such questions as “which is better – a Star-Belly Sneetch or a Plain-Belly Sneetch?”
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish: This simple yet silly book introduces beginning readers to fantastic and funny creatures with vibrant illustrations.
Green Eggs and Ham: One of the most beloved Dr. Seuss tales, Sam-I-Am decides to eat eggs an unusual shade of green after pondering a series of quirky questions.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas: A holiday favorite about the famous grinch who has plans to steal Christmas from a joyful community until the holiday spirit embraces him as well.
In addition to the Dr. Seuss books and plush, Kohl’s is offering an exclusive holiday CD containing holiday favorites performed by legendary Ray Charles. The CD, available only at Kohl’s, features 12 holiday selections including What Child is This, Baby It’s Cold Outside and many more.

Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is the only facility of its kind in Virginia, serving the medical and surgical needs of children throughout greater Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1961 and last year handled approximately 6,100 inpatient admissions and 200,000 outpatient specialty, surgical and emergency room visits, addressing routine and complex illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions.
