CHKD Names New Vice President for Patient Care Services
HAMPTON ROADS, Va.—Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters recently named Jo-Ann T. Burke, Virginia Beach, as its vice president for patient care services.
Burke has more than 20 years of experience in both health care administration and clinical services. She started her career as a neonatal intensive care nurse and subsequently held positions as vice president of clinical services, executive vice president of ambulatory services and as chief operating officer of hospitals in Ohio and here. Most recently, she served as director of perioperative services for the Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth. Burke earned a bachelor’s of science in nursing from Old Dominion University and did graduate work in pediatric nursing at the University of Virginia. She also completed a master’s of business administration at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is the only facility of its kind in Virginia, serving the medical and surgical needs of children throughout greater Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1961 and last year handled approximately 6,100 inpatient admissions and 200,000 outpatient specialty, surgical and emergency room visits, addressing routine and complex illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions. The CHKD Health System operates primary care pediatric practices, surgical practices, multi-service Health Centers and satellite offices throughout its service region.
