Oktoberfest Beer Festival to Benefit CHKD
Gordon Biersch Brewery-Restaurant, Sinclair Communications, Pembroke Kiwanis and Virginia Beach Town Center co-sponsor the event.
HAMPTON ROADS, Va.—Area residents can “go Bavarian and get Oktoberfestive” -- and help Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters at the same time -- during an Oktoberfest Beer Festival September 29, 1-6 p.m., at the corner of Main Street and Town Center Drive in Virginia.
The event is being co-sponsored by Gordon Biersch Brewery-Restaurant, Sinclair Communications (radio stations: WNIS AM790, WTAR AM850 and BOB FM93.7), Pembroke Kiwanis and Virginia Beach Town Center. The festival will feature samplings of dozens of beers from local and national vendors as well as food from various Town Center restaurants. Admission is $20. There also will be a bachelor/bachelorette auction, and live entertainment will be provided by The Ryan Hines Band. Tickets are available at Gordon-Biersch prior to the event. For more information, call (757) 490-2739.
All proceeds will go directly to benefit CHKD’s new Health and Surgery Center now under construction in the Princess Ann area of Virginia Beach.
Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is the only facility of its kind in Virginia, serving the medical and surgical needs of children throughout greater Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1961 and last year handled approximately 6,100 inpatient admissions and 200,000 outpatient specialty, surgical and emergency room visits, addressing routine and complex illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions. The CHKD Health System operates primary care pediatric practices, surgical practices, multi-service Health Centers and satellite offices throughout its service region.
