CHKD Mini Grand Prix: May 3 at Langley Speedway
HAMPTON ROADS, VA
–The CHKD Mini Grand Prix, sponsored by Pepsi with the support of Wal-Mart, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at the Langley Speedway in Hampton. Eighteen Grand Prix racing-styled mini Nascars sponsored by local businesses will go full throttle around a special racecourse set up in the middle of the speedway. The event is free and open to the public.
The Mini Grand Prix has the feel of big-time racing with pace cars, team uniforms, customized racecars and a pit row. A variety of food and refreshments will be available and there also be children’s games and face painting. All proceeds from the race sponsorships, entry fees and concessions will benefit CHKD. Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is the only facility of its kind in Virginia, serving the medical and surgical needs of children throughout greater Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1961 and last year handled approximately 6,200 inpatient admissions and 195,000 outpatient specialty, surgical and emergency room visits, addressing routine and complex illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions.
