CHKD 25th Annual Telethon Nets $3.5 Million
NORFOLK, VA. – Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters raised $3,515,257 during its 25th annual Telethon Celebration on Sunday, June 1.
The broadcast aired live on WVEC TV13 with hosts including David Alan, Kathryn Barrett, Vanessa Coria, Joe Flanagan, Regina Mobley, Craig Moeller and Janet Roach. It featured dozens of businesses, organizations and individuals who raised money for the hospital and presented their donations during the five-hour broadcast. Former and current patients and their families went on air to share their stories of how the hospital has helped them through illness and injury.
All proceeds from the Telethon benefit CHKD, the area's only hospital dedicated exclusively to children. CHKD provides a comprehensive range of services -- from primary care and immunizations to life-saving critical care -- to the children of southeastern Virginia, northeastern North Carolina and Virginia's Eastern Shore. CHKD is one of the 170 premier hospitals affiliated with Children's Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children by raising funds and awareness for affiliated children's hospitals throughout North America.
