ACL Injury Prevention Class
CHKD Sports Medicine program for female athletes
Research has shown that the incidence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in female athletes can be reduced by as much as 72-80% with proper training.
Our ACL injury prevention classes for female athletes are based on researched methods of preventing ACL injuries and consist of strengthening techniques, core stabilization exercises, plyometrics (jump training), stretching, balance and coordination training. The class will also focus on proper jumping, landing and cutting techniques.
The instructor for this class is physical therapist and athletic trainer April Kirkner, DPT, ATC. We will perform a pre- and post-training assessment to determine improvements the athletes have made throughout the program. At the end of six weeks, the athletes will have a better chance at prevention of an ACL injury.
The class meets August 11-September 17, 2008 every Monday and Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The first 6 participants to send in payment will be accepted into the program.
Cost is $75 per participant. For more information, please call 548-1214.
