HAMPTON ROADS, Va. —The following public programs will be offered by CHKD Health System during November:
- November 5, Positive Discipline. Free. 10-11:30 a.m. CHKD Health and Surgery Center at Princess Anne, 2021 Concert Drive, Virginia Beach. Learn several discipline techniques that work without yelling, arguing or spanking. Register online at www.chkd.org/classes or call (757) 668-7500.
- November 12, The Teenage Brain — an Oxymoron. Free. 7-9 p.m. CHKD Brickhouse Auditorium, 601 Children’s Lane, Norfolk. Learn about the development of the brain from the womb to and through the teenage years. Understand how major changes in the brain and hormones are correlated with specific behaviors in the teenager and how you can help your adolescent through this turbulent time. - November 19, Life with a Strong Willed Child. Free. noon-1:30 p.m., CHKD Health and Surgery Center at Princess Anne, 2021 Concert Drive, Virginia Beach. Parents and caregivers will learn to understand acting out behaviors, how temperament affects behavior and alternative ways to handle spirited children. - November 26, Parents of Children with Special Needs Support Group. 9:30-11:30 a.m. Free. The Endependence Center Building, 6300 E. Virginia Beach Boulevard, Norfolk.
