Virginia Senator Visits CHKD

Norfolk, Va. - Virginia Sen. Yvonne Miller, who represents Chesapeake and parts of Virginia Beach and Norfolk, paid a visit to CHKD on Dec. 9. During her visit, Sen. Miller spoke to and observed doctors, nurses and children in the neonatal intensive care unit and the in-patient cancer unit. She also visited with physicians supervising CHKD’s continuity clinic, which treats children of families without traditional insurance.

Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters serves the medical and surgical needs of children from Hampton Roads, and the surrounding areas of Southeastern Virginia, Northeastern North Carolina and Virginia’s Eastern Shore. The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1961 and last year handled approximately 6,100 inpatient admissions and 200,000 outpatient specialty, surgical and emergency room visits, addressing routine and complex illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions.
