Raising Emotionally Healthy Children

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. —A free program, “Raising emotionally Healthy Children,” will be presented for parents February 5, 7-9 p.m., and for professionals February 6, 10 a.m.-noon, in CHKD’s Brickhouse Auditorium, 601 Children’s Lane, Norfolk.

Noted educator and lecturer Gerald Newmark, Ph.D., will show parents, teachers, counselors and childcare providers to recognize and satisfy the critical emotional needs that all children have to feel respected, important, accepted, included and secure. The workshop will provide powerful and practical concepts and tools that enable adults to interact with children and with each other in emotionally healthy ways. Each participant will receive a free copy of Newman’s book, How to Raise Emotionally Healthy Children—Meeting the Five Critical Needs of Children…and parents Too!

Newman has teaching experience at every level from elementary school to university and as a consultant and researcher. He lectures extensively on doctor-patient, manager-employee, parent-child-teacher relations, and on innovative methods of teaching and learning. He is a member of the American Association of Humanistic Psychology, the Charles F. Menninger Society and the National Association for the Mentally Ill.
