CHKD patient to dedicate TBA Charity House
Tuesday, August 4, 10 a.m., Culpepper Landing, Chesapeake
NORFOLK, VA - Five-year-old Sydney Lambert of Chesapeake will be a guest of honor at the dedication of the Tidewater Builders Association’s 2009 Charity House at the site of this year’s Homearama showcase of homes. Proceeds from the sale of the home will benefit Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, where Sydney has been treated for cancer since she was 9 months old.
In Sydney’s honor, the home is being named “The Sydney Lambert.” It is being constructed by Herb Watson, of The Walters Co. and will incorporate contributions from many generous suppliers and subcontractors.
Chesapeake Mayor Alan Krasnoff, Herb Watson and representatives from Tidewater Builders Association and Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters will join Sydney in a tree-planting ceremony.
The 2009 Charity House is one of 12 custom showcase homes under construction for this year’s Homearama, which is located in the Culpepper Landing neighborhood of Chesapeake adjacent to the Dismal Swamp canal and wildlife refuge. Since 1988, TBA members have helped build 20 Charity Houses, which have raised more than $1 million for local children’s programs.
Homearama will be open to the public October 3-18. A charity preview event to benefit CHKD is scheduled for Friday, October 2 at 6 p.m. For directions to Homearama and more information on this year’s biggest home show, visit www.tbaonline.org or call (757) 420-2434.
