CHKD free public programs in October

HAMPTON ROADS, Va.—The following free public programs will be offered by CHKD Health System in October. 
  • October 7, Life with a Strong-willed Child. Free. 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. CHKD Health and Surgery Center at Oyster Point, 11783 Rock Landing Drive, Newport News. Parents and caregivers will learn how to understand acting-out behaviors, how temperament affects behavior and effective ways to handle spirited children. Register online at www.chkd.org/classes.
  •  October 15, Infant Massage. Free. 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Pediatric Associates of Williamsburg, 119 Bulifants Boulevard, Williamsburg. Parents will learn simple infant massage techniques designed for infants from birth to 6 months. Gain hands-on experience with your baby and learn about the benefits of infant massage that will help your baby sleep and feed more peacefully, as well as strengthen their immune system.   • October 21, Sibshops For Siblings 9 - 14 years old. Free. 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. CHKD Health and Surgery Center at Oyster Point, 11783 Rock Landing Drive, Newport News. A recreational workshop for brothers and sisters of children who have special health and development needs (including, but not limited to, diabetes, cancer, cystic fibrosis, heart, kidney, liver gastrointestinal or lung disease, sickle cell, AIDS, head injuries, autism) to obtain peer support and education. Please call Gail Cervarich at (757) 668-7646 for information and registration. 
  • October 22, How Children Manage Anger. Free. 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. CHKD Health and Surgery Center at Princess Anne, 2021 Concert Drive, Virginia Beach. Learn how to help young children (up to age 6) manage their anger and learn self-control. Register online at www.chkd.org/classes.
  •  October 24, Sibshops for Siblings 6 to 10 years old. Free. 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. 6th Floor Conference Room, Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk.   • October 29, College Planning 101. Free. 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, 601 Children's Lane, 6th floor conference room, Norfolk.
