Kohl’s donates more than $103,000 to CHKD – bringing total donations to $350,000
HAMPTON ROADS, VA
– Kohl's Department Store, through the Kohl's Cares for Kids® program, presented a check for $103,890 to CHKD on Sept. 24. The donations were collected from Kohl’s stores located in Hampton Roads.
With the help of Kohl’s, CHKD has been able to offer free lectures with nationally known programs as Dr. Harvey Karp’s popular “Happiest Baby on the Block” that helps new parents navigate the first months of Baby's life, while learning how to soothe even the fussiest infant.
“Kohl’s has been an invaluable partner to CHKD and has helped CHKD get important health information to parents in the region,” said Sam Fabian, CHKD community outreach program manager. “The people from Kohl’s Cares for Kids do more than provide funds – they clearly care deeply about improving the health and welfare of children in our community.”
Since 2004, Kohl’s has donated more than $350,000 for both the lecture series and CHKD’s Reach Out and Read child literacy program.
Kohl’s commitment to CHKD is made possible through the Kohl’s Cares for Kids program, which raises funds for children’s health and educational opportunities through the sale of $5 books and plush toys. Net profits from the sales go to support children’s health and educational opportunities in the communities Kohl’s serves. Other components of Kohl's Cares for Kids include Kohl's A-Team associate volunteer program; the Kohl’s Kids Who Care® Scholarship Program, recognizing stand-out kids for volunteer efforts in their communities; and fundraising gift cards for local schools and nonprofit organizations.
CHKD is the only freestanding, full-service children’s hospital in Virginia and serves the medical and surgical needs of children throughout greater Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and northeastern North Carolina.
