Kohl’s sponsored free public programs in February
HAMPTON ROADS, Va.—The following free public programs sponsored by Kohl’s Department Stores will be offered by CHKD Health System in February.
February 6, Happiest Baby on the Block. Free. 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CHKD Health Center at Oakbrooke, 500 Discovery Dr., Chesapeake. This two-hour class for expectant and new parents will help Mom and Dad navigate the first months of Baby's life while learning how to soothe even the fussiest infant in minutes and help Baby sleep longer. Parents will learn about the calming reflex, the cuddle cure and the "5 Ss." All participants will receive "The Happiest Baby on the Block" DVD by Dr. Harvey Karp and a soothing sounds CD. February 18, Trauma in Childhood. Free. 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Old Dominion University, Web Center-Newport News Room, Hampton Blvd., Norfolk. Experiencing trauma during childhood has long lasting effects. Dr. John Briere, author of “Child Abuse Trauma,” will discuss the personal and social effects trauma has on children and learn what you and our community can do to prevent it and help those who suffer.
