CHKD doctor honored as Virginia Lawyer’s Weekly’s “most influential” woman of 2010

HAMPTON ROADS, Va.— Dr. Michelle Clayton of Norfolk, who has worked to combat child abuse, was announced as the 2010 “Influential Woman of the Year” at yesterday’s “Influential Women of Virginia” luncheon held by Virginia Lawyer’s Weekly.

This honor is determined by a vote of the 50 people honored as the Class of 2010.

According to the people who nominated her, Dr. Clayton “works to bridge the gap between medicine and child abuse investigation and prosecution. For the past 10 years, she has been associated with the child abuse program at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk, performing hundreds of consultations with police and social service officials and prosecutors on cases.”

A passionate advocate for the prevention of child abuse, Dr. Clayton also serves on a number of state and local boards dedicated to stopping abuse and to improving the lives of children.
