CHKD Health Foundation announces new board member
NORFOLK, Va. – Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters Health Foundation has named Charles R. Henderson, Jr., to its board of directors.
Henderson is a senior vice president with Bank of America and works within its charitable foundation as CSR philanthropy manager and market president. As market president he is responsible for the integration of the bank’s business, sponsorship and charitable foundation initiatives in the Hampton Roads market. He has been with the bank since 1979.
An active community volunteer, Henderson is a trustee of Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and serves on the boards of Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance, Hampton Roads Partnership, Virginia Community Development Corporation, and Virginia Community Development Fund. In 2009 Henderson was honored by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities as its Humanitarian of the Year.
CHKD Health Foundation manages the contributions from Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters supporters, providing funds for programs and research at the hospital.
CHKD is the only freestanding children’s hospital in Virginia and serves the medical and surgical needs of children throughout greater Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1961 and last year handled 5,835 inpatient admissions and 204,000 outpatient specialty, surgical and emergency room visits, addressing routine and complex illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions. CHKD Health System operates primary-care pediatric practices, surgical practices, multi-service Health Centers and satellite offices throughout its service region.
