David Wright to hold Vegas-style fundraiser for CHKD

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – David Wright, star third baseman for the New York Mets and Chesapeake native, will host a Vegas-style charity event for Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters on Friday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m., at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

The evening will include a Texas hold ‘em poker tournament and casino games, including craps, roulette, blackjack and table-top horse racing with chances to win great prizes. Guests can enjoy cocktails, heavy hors d'oeuvres and bid on live and silent auction items. General admission for casino games is $150 per person; participation in the poker tournament is $300 per person. Advanced purchase is required. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Wright has been a friend to CHKD for many years. This is the second Vegas Night he’s hosted. Last year’s event raised more than $111,000, funds which are currently helping the hospital renovate its all-important child life activity room where patients can go for a break from medical care to play with games and toys and have fun.

Hall Automotive is title sponsor of the event.
