Dr. Sandip Godambe joins CHKD emergency center
HAMPTON ROADS, Va.— Dr. Sandip Godambe, a graduate of the Washington University School of Medicine, has joined the pediatric emergency medicine division of Children’s Special Group, PLLC in practice at CHKD.
Dr. Godambe, who also earned a Ph.D. in immunology at Washington University, trained at Harvard Medical School’s Children’s Hospital of Boston. After completing a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, he served as an attending physician in the emergency department.
Dr. Godambe brings CHKD to 11 specialists in the region’s only pediatric emergency center, which last year handled 47,000 visits.
Dr. Godambe intends to launch an effort to review electronic medical records of children who have suffered septic shock to look for changes in vital signs and lab results that can alert clinicians to a heightened risk so they can begin therapy earlier.
Dr. Godambe also hopes to use CHKD’s integrated electronic medical record of pediatrician and hospital visits to help develop ways to care for children in CHKD’s pediatric practices with the goal of keeping them out of the hospital.
