CHKD/92.9 Wave Goodbye to Kids Cancer raised $80,702
NORFOLK, VA. – The Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon with 92.9 The Wave raised $80,702 for cancer treatment and research at CHKD.
During the one-day Radiothon, the 92.9 DJs set up a radio station in the CHKD lobby and interviewed patients, encouraging people to call in donations and pledges.
“We are so grateful for the support of 92.9 The Wave for making the 5th Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon a success,” said Jacklyn Becker, a CHKD development officer. “Every penny of this money will be dedicated to improving the lives of children at treated for cancer at CHKD.”
CHKD follows about 500 childhood cancer patients, ranging in age from newborns to survivors in their mid 20s. More than 70 new cases are diagnosed each year.
Money raised in the Radiothon will help CHKD’s team of pediatric oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, pediatric oncology nurses and nurse practitioners provide the nation’s most up-to-date treatments close to the patients’ homes.
