Register now for fifth annual Anthem LemonAid July 19-21
Kids pour out to raise funds for kids with cancer.
HAMPTON ROADS, Va. –– A neighborhood lemonade stand is a classic sign of summer fun. This year hundreds of local families will be pouring gallons of the summer’s signature drink to raise money and support kids with cancer during Anthem LemonAid weekend.
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has teamed up with Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters to help raise awareness and funds for the fight against childhood cancer at CHKD.
“Anthem is proud to be a part of this growing event and we encourage everyone to take part by either participating or visiting a stand during Anthem LemonAid weekend,” said C. Burke King, president, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia.
Children and families throughout the Hampton Roads area will host LemonAid stands to support kids fighting cancer during the fifth annual Anthem LemonAid weekend to be held July 19-21, 2013. Families, businesses and community groups are encouraged to register and participate to benefit childhood cancer treatment at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, the Hampton Roads’ hospital of Children’s Miracle Network, which is sponsoring the nationwide event.
In addition to a traditional LemonAid stand, participants have the opportunity to extend their efforts and raise money using an Online LemonAid Stand, too. Online LemonAid Stands will be active from registration until July 31, 2013, and can be personalized with goal information, pictures and messages.
Last year, more than 700 LemonAid stands raised over $81,000 for CHKD’s cancer program – which included a $20,000 gift from Anthem.
To help make your stand a success, each participant will receive a FREE LemonAid kit that includes lemonade mix, cups, pitcher, signs and more. Cups (10 oz.) of lemonade are sold for $1 each and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit CHKD’s cancer program.
Anthem LemonAid is sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. LemonAid partners include Panera, Walmart & Sam’s Club, Taste Unlimited, and Kangaroo Jac’s.
This year’s Wrap-up Celebration will be held at Kangaroo Jac’s at 830 Professional Place West in Chesapeake from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 21. All participants are invited to attend, and anyone who turns in their donation that day will be able to enjoy the fun at Kangaroo Jac’s for only $2 per person.
