Kohl’s Department Stores to Donate More than $89,000 to CHKD for Kohl’s FitKids Program
Norfolk, VA - Kohl's Department Stores, through the Kohl's Cares® cause merchandise program, has donated $89,500 to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters. The donations were collected from Kohl’s stores located in the Hampton Roads area. Kohl’s has gifted approximately $785,213 to CHKD since 2004.
This year's grant will launch a new campaign called Kohl’s Fitkids, a community-based program designed to educate families about the importance of staying fit and making healthy food choices. In addition to a variety of outreach efforts, there will be a FitKids’ Steps to Fitness publication distributed throughout Hampton Roads to reinforce this message.
Kohl's commitment to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters is made possible through the Kohl's Cares® cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one. Kohl's has raised more than $231 million dollars through this merchandise program. In addition to the merchandise program, Kohl's Cares® features the Kohl's Cares® Scholarship Program, which last year recognized more than 2,300 young volunteers with more than $400,000 in scholarships and prizes. Through Kohl’s Associates in Action volunteer program, more than 669,000 associates have donated more than 2.2 million hours of their time since 2001, and Kohl’s has donated more than $63 million to youth-focused nonprofit organizations.
