CHKD begins Sports Medicine partnership with Virginia Beach Middle Schools
August 28, 2013 – Virginia Beach City Public Schools has awarded the contract for its middle school certified athletic training services to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters’ Sports Medicine Program. Beginning this week, CHKD’s certified athletic trainers will be providing for the safety of student-athletes throughout the city’s thirteen middle schools. All of the trainers have current certification in sports medicine and work as an integral extension of CHKD’s entire sports medicine team. CHKD has provided similar services to Chesapeake Public Schools for its middle and high school student-athletes since August 2010.
CHKD’s Sports Medicine program specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of a wide variety of issues facing physically active children and teens. This care is backed by CHKD's full complement of pediatric health services and is provided by primary care sports medicine specialists, pediatric orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physical therapists and certified athletic trainers who understand the special demands
that sports place on young, growing bodies. For more information, visit www.chkd.org/sportsmed
