M. Ali Mumtaz, MD - Dr. Mumtaz is director of CHKD's cardiac surgery program. He has special interests in neonatal heart surgery, arterial switch operation, anomalies of pulmonary veins and coronary arteries, minimally invasive approach to congenital heart surgery and care of adult patients with congenital heart disease.
Dr. Mumtaz holds a medical degree from King Edward College in Pakistan and completed his internship at Mayo Hospital in Pakistan. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, Connecticut, and his cardiothoracic surgery residency at Mid-America Heart Institute, St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
He also completed a pediatric cardiac surgery fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation and is board-certified in general and cardiothoracic surgery.
