H. Sheldon St. Clair, MD - Dr. St. Clair is the senior staff pediatric orthopedic surgeon with special interests in scoliosis and spinal deformities, cerebral palsy, neuromuscular diseases, limb lengthening and deformity correction, congenital deformities and sports injuries. Educated at Harvard College, he graduated from the Medical College of Virginia and served his residency in orthopedics at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston. He completed the Berg Fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at Boston Floating Hospital for Children. He has been board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery since 1986 and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Virginia Orthopedic Society, the Medical Society of Virginia, and the Pediatric Society of North America.
Dr. St. Clair helped design spinal instrumentation used in surgery for the treatment of early onset scoliosis and other spinal deformities and helped develop the spasticity management program for the Cerebral Palsy Clinic. He is also medical director of the Spina Bifida Clinic.
He has served in leadership roles in more than 20 years at CHKD, including as chairman of the department of orthopedics, surgical director for orthopedics, vice president of Children's Health Network, vice president for surgical affairs, and president of the CHKD Professional staff. He is a member of the faculty of Eastern Virginia Medical School as assistant professor or orthopedics.
