At CHKD, improving the
quality and safety of care is a continuous effort that spans all departments
and touches every aspect of our daily work, from our most basic communications
to our most advanced technology. Some highlights of our comprehensive safety

Joint Commission Accreditation
CHKD is accredited by The Joint Commission, which means we have met the highest standards of
quality and care in a healthcare setting.

Solutions for Patient Safety
CHKD is a member of
this federally-funded collaborative of
79 pediatric facilities which develops and shares best practices to reduce the risk
of hospital-acquired conditions like infections related to catheter use,
surgical site infections, falls and adverse drug events.
At CHKD, we believe that parents are
integral members of the care team. When parents are concerned that a child’s
condition is getting worse and that doctors and nurses are not responding
correctly, or quickly enough, they can request a care team consult.
National Surgical Quality Program
CHKD participates in the American College of Surgeons National
Surgical Quality Improvement Program to measure, compare and improve the outcomes of our surgical
