Each gift to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters helps to keep our region’s children healthy and strong. Below are some questions commonly asked by our friends who are considering a donation to support CHKD’s work.

- What kind of gifts can I give?
Answer:
There are many ways to contribute to CHKD. Not only can you provide gifts of cash/checks and credit card, but you may also provide in-kind gifts, trusts and annuities (legacy giving) and tribute giving. - May I donate online?
Answer:
Yes, CHKD has a secure online donation form for your convenience. To make a gift now, click here.
- Can I make a gift to thank the medical professionals who cared for my child?
Answer:
Yes, CHKD offers a tribute giving program. You can learn more here or by calling (757) 668-7070. We promptly send an acknowledgement card notifying the recipient of your gift, but the amount of your donation is never shared with the recipient.

- Do you accept all major credit cards?
Answer:
You can charge a gift to your Visa, MasterCard or American Express. We accept credit card gifts by using our online donation form or by phone at (757) 668-7070.
- Is my gift tax-deductible?
Answer:
Yes, CHKD is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, which means your gift is tax deductible to the fullest extent provided by law. You will receive an acknowledgment letter for each gift made that serves as your tax record.
- Can I designate my gift for a specific program of the hospital?
Answer:
Certainly. While the hospital needs and appreciates unrestricted gifts to use where our needs are greatest, we are happy to designate your gift to a specific program that best suits your interests.
If making an online gift, please specify where your gift should be directed in the notes section at the end of the form. If mailing in your gift, simply include a brief note with your donation naming the department or program that you would like to benefit from your gift. - Can I make a monthly gift?
Answer:
We would be glad to charge your credit card monthly at your request – for a period of 12 months or indefinitely. Please use the online donation form or contact the hospital’s development office at (757) 668-7070.
- Can I volunteer?
Answer:
CHKD has a very active volunteer program helping various programs of CHKD and assisting at various fundraising events in our community. To volunteer in the hospital, please click here for more details.

- How can I become a corporate partner?
Answer:
There are many ways in which a company can partner with CHKD to support our programs and services. Corporate giving, corporate foundation support and employee giving are just a few examples of how you can make a difference in the lives of our patients.

- How can I plan an event to benefit CHKD?
- Can I give through the United Way, Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), or Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC)?

CHKD is also listed as a member of Community Health Charities in many federal, state, local government, and private sector workplace campaigns in many areas of Virginia. However, while campaign administrators have agreed to the numbers shown above, the numbers are not guaranteed. Please check your workplace campaign brochure carefully to confirm CHKD’s name and number before entering it on your pledge card.
- Can I make a donation of new toys?

Yes. Toy donations are coordinated through CHKD’s child life department. Please click here to learn more. Due to infection control policies, CHKD is unable to accept used toys.
- May I donate food items, such as candy?
Answer:
Because of infection control issues and the special diet requirements of our patients, we are unable to accept food donations.
- Can I make an anonymous gift?
Answer:
Yes, while we like to acknowledge our donors for their generosity, we respect your privacy. Whether making your gift online, over the phone, or by mail, simply indicate that you wish to make your gift anonymously.
- Can I leave Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in my will?
Answer:
Yes, many grateful friends have provided essential support to CHKD by leaving us in their will or estate plans.

- Can my gift be matched by my employer?

- Where can I donate gently used clothing and other items to help CHKD?
Answer:
CHKD Thrift Stores are located throughout Hampton Roads, Virginia. All items donated are tax deductible at their fair market value, and sales from the thrift stores benefit CHKD. For more information about what items can be donated, please click here.
- Can I donate my vehicle?
Answer:
Yes. Car, boat and RV donations for CHKD are handled by Tidewater Auto Auction. They can be reached at (757) 673-3742.
