Alternatives to Using Cash
There are many other ways to make gifts to Children's Hospital besides cash gifts. Below are a few examples.
Property
Children's Hospital proudly accepts gifts of property, both real (real estate) and personal (jewelry, collectibles) as long as you own them in their entirety and a mortgage does not exist. Many times, property has appreciated a great deal in value, making it an ideal asset to use as an outright gift, or to fund a charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust.
Life Insurance
Some people find that they invested in life insurance many years and now no longer need the policy. You can give it to CHKD by simply naming us the beneficiary of the policy. There are numerous tax advantages available to you when you use life insurance as a charitable gift.
Retirement Plan Assets
There are numerous types of retirement plans, each with its own unique character. However, all allow for you to name beneficiaries and CHKD can become one of them. Since many IRAs and other retirement plans are taxed when the assets are distributed, they can be a very wise choice to use when making a gift to CHKD. Since we are tax exempt we wouldn't pay any of the tax on the distribution.
