The Outback Steakhouse on Laskin Road in Virginia Beach celebrated their grand re-opening in May by raising money to support CHKD’s Health and Surgery Center at Princess Anne. Pictured here is the restaurant’s management team. 50% of the opening night’s sales were donated to the hospital, a total of $5,000!

In April, Food Lion associates from around the region gathered together at the CHKD Health and Surgery Center in Virginia Beach to begin a successful year of fundraising and honor their achievements from 2008.

During the 2009 Employee Phone-a-thon, employees volunteered to stay after work to call past donors to the hospital and ask them to renew their gift. Over $65,000 was raised in just four nights of calling, and much fun was had by all! Pictured here are two enthusiastic callers from the Cardiology/Radiology team, "The Glowing Hearts".

Walmart and Sam's Club stores visited the hospital in February to celebrate a great year of fundraising for CHKD through Children's Miracle Network and kick off another.

The Red Hatters from Senior Station in Portsmouth dropped by the hospital in November to give a donation raised at events throughout the year. The ladies brightened up the lobby with both their colorful outfits and their joy in helping the children!
Patty Bartneck (L) and Jill Maloney stopped by the hospital in November to present the check from their annual Kristen Bartneck Memorial Golf Tournament hosted by the Career Woman’s Golf Association. $10,485 was raised during this year’s event, held in June.

Delia Etheridge with Food Lion in Kill Devil Hills presents CHKD's Brenda Kuntz with a check for $10,000 raised during the store's Second Annual Outer Banks Charity Auto Show. The weekend featured a light/sound show on Friday night followed by the car show on Saturday. Many prizes were awarded and a great time was had by all!
Rita's on 21st Street in Norfolk and Providence Road in Virginia Beach are selling Children's Miracle Network balloons through the month of August to benefit CHKD. The stores are also hosting charity days for CHKD where 15% of sales come to the hospital. Shown here is the creative display of balloons at the Norfolk Rita's.
The DiSilvestro family- from left, Harry and Theresa DiSilvestro, with Cyndi and Tony DiSilvestro - owners of YNOT Pizza, visited the hospital in August to present a check from their June 2008 fundraising event. To celebrate the restaurant’s 15-year anniversary, YNOT held a day where large cheese pizzas cost only $3.99, with all proceeds going to the hospital. $3,000 was raised for the kids at CHKD!

Great Clips stylists from salons around Hampton Roads teamed up for a Cut-a-thon on Friday, August 1st at the Norfolk Tides game at Harbor Park. The event capped off a month of fundraising in the salons as part of the “Great Needs, Great Deeds” program. Haircuts were free with a $10 donation to CHKD, and the stylists’ chairs were full all night long. Over $500 was raised for the hospital!
The Foster family and friends raised $240 for CHKD's Childhood Cancer Program by hosting a LemonAid stand at St. Bride's Church and Irwin's Pharmacy in July. Ace Phillips, a CHKD patient, participated in the LemonAid campaign to support the Childhood Cancer Program at CHKD. He raised money by selling cups of lemonade for $1 at a branch of Virginia Educator Credit Union, where his mother works.

Representatives from Hall Automotive and their families came by Telethon to present a check for $114,100 from their annual holiday campaign to benefit CHKD. During the month of December, Hall donates $50 to the hospital for each car sold.
Nick Manning, Virginia’s Children’s Miracle Network Champion Child for 2008, and his family visited Telethon to share their story with Janet Roach of WVEC-13. As part of being the Champion Child this year, Nick and his family got to visit Disney World and Washington, D.C., where they met President Bush.
Telethon had many special guests this year, including Curly the Ice Cream Cone from Dairy Queen and Santa Claus, who found time in his busy summer vacation schedule to visit CHKD.

Representatives from Ocean Lakes High School present the hospital with a check for $5,210 from their Dolphin Dash 5k event, held in May. This annual event caps off the school’s Founder’s Week celebration.
The team from The Keith Hinton Group joined together in May to put on their first annual Spring Gala to benefit CHKD. Guests of the event generously donated over $15,000 to support programs at the hospital.
Runners start off the race at the 2008 Lytle Law 5k, which raised over $10,000 for the hospital!

CHKD recently presented the employees of Valley Foodservice with a plaque in appreciation for their fundraising throughout the year. The Valley Foodservice team supports the hospital through employee giving, which the company matches.

Linda Clukey and Linda Bostrack of Cruisefinders Travel stopped by the hospital with a gift from their February 2008 “Kem Hughes Memorial Cruise”. During the cruise, a group of almost 40 travelers visited various ports throughout the Caribbean and raised $2,160 along the way!
