On April 4th, Walmart and Sam’s Club kicked off their 2012 Million Dollar Miracle Campaign for CHKD and this is a terrific group from Walmart #1687, Suffolk. They were the #2 fundraising store in the country last year.
Meet Rebecca Schmitz. For a school project, this budding photographer took beautiful pictures of her hometown of Gloucester, created an 18 month calendar and sold it to benefit CHKD. She proudly raised $1320.

TGage Smith and his mom stopped by CHKD to present a check from his Party With A Purpose. Instead of presents, Gage asked for donations to be made to CHKD. A total of $229 was raised for the kids at CHKD!
The Naval Air Station Oceana Chief’s Petty Officer Association presented CHKD with a check for $4,440 from their fundraising efforts. They also created a special CHKD tile that will be displayed on the ceiling of the Chief Petty Officer’s Club.

Enterprise Car Sales stopped by CHKD to present a check from their June Cars for Kids program. For every car purchased through Enterprise Car Sales the month of June $250 was donated to CHKD. The result of Dunkin’ Donuts Munchkins® for Munchkins in Hampton Roads, Williamsburg and the Outer Banks was a check for $5000 presented to CHKD at the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant on Hampton Boulevard in Norfolk. All 20 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in the region donated a $1 to CHKD for every 50-count box of Munchkins® donut hole treats sold. The Junior Women’s Club of Newport News stopped by CHKD’s Oyster Point facility to present a check for $2,500 from their annual Valentine’s Day Dinner and Dance. Since the beginning, the Junior Women’s Club of Newport News has raised over $30,000 for the kids at the hospital!

Motorcyclists gathered in Virginia Beach on February 27 to “Freeze their Knees Off” for the kids at CHKD. Participants raised funds by pledging to ride laps around the parking lot in their Pajamas. Luckily for them the weather didn’t cooperate and it turned out to be quite a warm day, but either way the crowd had a great time raising funds for the kids at CHKD!

Winter Elkins and her mom Heather stopped by CHKD’s Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon for an interview with Paul Richardson. The 2-day radiothon with 92.9 The Wave raised $105,000! Thanks to everyone who called in and made a donation.

Moe’s Miracle Day for CHKD- Former American Idol Contestant Chris Richardson stopped by some local Moe’s Southwest Grills this past weekend to visit with fans and raise money for CHKD. On May 1st all 8 locations donation 10% of their sales to CHKD. Customers can go out to any Moe’s location until May 22nd and purchase a Moe’s Miracle Balloon for CHKD for $1.

Hampton Roads Panera Café Managers and Regional Staff gathered to present CHKD with a check from their year-round “Operation Dough-Nation” Fundraising. Collectively the 11 Panera Cafes raised $20,102.64 for Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters

Princess Anne Middle School Student Tanner Watson raised money for CHKD as part of a school project. Tanner raised $97 by collecting spare change from friends and family members.

Hometown hero and New York Mets third baseman David Wright spent several hours at CHKD on January 4th visiting patients, families...and playing a few video games. Last year, the David Wright Foundation established CHKD's "Do the Wright Thing Movie and VideoGame Library," which makes hundreds of popular movies and video games available to patients right in their rooms while they are in the hospital.

The 3rd Annual Lytle Law 5k was held May, 16, 2009. With over 700 participants Lytle Law was able to raise $15,000 for CHKD!
The Outback Steakhouse on Laskin Road in Virginia Beach celebrated their grand re-opening in May by raising money to support CHKD’s Health and Surgery Center at Princess Anne. Great Clips stylists from salons around Hampton Roads teamed up for a Cut-a-thon on Friday, August 1st at the Norfolk Tides game at Harbor Park. The event capped off a month of fundraising in the salons as part of the “Great Needs, Great Deeds” program. Haircuts were free with a $10 donation to CHKD, and the stylists’ chairs were full all night long. Over $500 was raised for the hospital!

Representatives from Hall Automotive and their families came by Telethon to present a check for $114,100 from their annual holiday campaign to benefit CHKD. During the month of December, Hall donates $50 to the hospital for each car sold.
Nick Manning, Virginia’s Children’s Miracle Network Champion Child for 2008, and his family visited Telethon to share their story with Janet Roach of WVEC-13. As part of being the Champion Child this year, Nick and his family got to visit Disney World and Washington, D.C., where they met President Bush.
Telethon had many special guests this year, including Curly the Ice Cream Cone from Dairy Queen and Santa Claus, who found time in his busy summer vacation schedule to visit CHKD.

The team from The Keith Hinton Group joined together in May to put on their first annual Spring Gala to benefit CHKD. Guests of the event generously donated over $15,000 to support programs at the hospital.
