CHKD Champions Winter and Katrina stopped by Moe’s to help make some burritos for customers. On September 19 Moe’s donated 20% of all Moe Monday meals to CHKD.

Enterprise Car Sales stopped by CHKD to present a check from their June Cars for Kids program. For every car purchased through Enterprise Car Sales the month of June $250 was donated to CHKD. Paul Kaplan of Aflac stopped by to present CHKD with a check for $13,627 from the 2010 Aflac and Macy’s Holiday Duck Program. All of the money raised through the Holiday Duck Program benefits CHKD’s childhood cancer program.

Olivia Dayag and Denisa Lutz from Junior Troop 317, brought by blankets they made for the pediatric cancer patients to the hospital. The girls did this for their Bronze award which is the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can earn. The result of Dunkin’ Donuts Munchkins® for Munchkins in Hampton Roads, Williamsburg and the Outer Banks was a check for $5000 presented to CHKD at the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant on Hampton Boulevard in Norfolk. All 20 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in the region donated a $1 to CHKD for every 50-count box of Munchkins® donut hole treats sold. Sharon Conti, President of Virginia Educators Credit Union, stopped by CHKD’s Oyster Point Health and Surgery Center to present a check from their year-round fundraising. Through bake sales, lemonade stands and many other fundraisers the credit union raised over $2,000 for CHKD!

The Junior Women’s Club of Newport News stopped by CHKD’s Oyster Point facility to present a check for $2,500 from their annual Valentine’s Day Dinner and Dance. Since the beginning, the Junior Women’s Club of Newport News has raised over $30,000 for the kids at the hospital!

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club at Brandon Middle School recently held a fundraiser to benefit CHKD. The students raised $286 through bake sales and other fundraisers.

The Girl’s Soccer Team at Ocean Lakes High School recently raised $1,600 for the CHKD Cancer and Blood Disorders Child Life Department through various fundraisers. They were inspired by their teammate Candice’s younger sister Lexi, a patient at CHKD.

Motorcyclists gathered in Virginia Beach on February 27 to “Freeze their Knees Off” for the kids at CHKD. Participants raised funds by pledging to ride laps around the parking lot in their Pajamas. Luckily for them the weather didn’t cooperate and it turned out to be quite a warm day, but either way the crowd had a great time raising funds for the kids at CHKD!

Employees from the Keystone Shipping Company from their vessel Cape Rise donated $500 to CHKD Adopt A Buddy program by sponsoring all 10 dogs featured on the website.

CAS employees made a $4,000 gift to support CHKD's Child Abuse Program, which cares for almost 1,100 children and families each year. Members of the Phi Mu Sorority at Christopher Newport University stopped by to present the hospital with a check from their 1st Annual Dance Marathon. Jamison Hoye and Bradon Tate stopped by CHKD with their families to present a check for $400 from their 4th Birthday Party! In lieu of gifts the birthday boys asked for donations to be made to CHKD.

Winter Elkins and her mom Heather stopped by CHKD’s Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon for an interview with Paul Richardson. The 2-day radiothon with 92.9 The Wave raised $105,000! Thanks to everyone who called in and made a donation.

Moe’s Miracle Day for CHKD- Former American Idol Contestant Chris Richardson stopped by some local Moe’s Southwest Grills this past weekend to visit with fans and raise money for CHKD. On May 1st all 8 locations donation 10% of their sales to CHKD. Customers can go out to any Moe’s location until May 22nd and purchase a Moe’s Miracle Balloon for CHKD for $1.

Old Dominion Car Club stopped by to present CHKD with a check for $450 from their First Annual Car Show.

Hampton Roads Panera Café Managers and Regional Staff gathered to present CHKD with a check from their year-round “Operation Dough-Nation” Fundraising. Collectively the 11 Panera Cafes raised $20,102.64 for Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters

Ty Wishart, Chris Lawrence and Mark Parrish of The Norfolk Admirals stopped by CHKD to test out their art skills while syringe painting with some patients. Everyone had a blast and luckily the paint is washable!

The guys from YNOT Pizza stopped by to present CHKD with a check for $3000 from their annual CHKD Pizza Fundraiser. Stay tuned for details for the Summer 2010 fundraiser!

Avis Budget Group presented a check for $1,995 to CHKD from their annual Valentine’s Day balloon sales.

Princess Anne Middle School Student Tanner Watson raised money for CHKD as part of a school project. Tanner raised $97 by collecting spare change from friends and family members.

Finley Hooker-Tidwell and her mom Kristen (pictured on right) stopped by CHKD to drop off money from Finley’s 4th Birthday. Finley collected $750 in donations in lieu of birthday presents. Finley was a patient at CHKD and has done a Party With A Purpose ever since her 1st birthday! All together Finley and her family has raised over $3,500 for the hospital.

Hometown hero and New York Mets third baseman David Wright spent several hours at CHKD on January 4th visiting patients, families...and playing a few video games. Last year, the David Wright Foundation established CHKD's "Do the Wright Thing Movie and VideoGame Library," which makes hundreds of popular movies and video games available to patients right in their rooms while they are in the hospital.

Party with a Purpose: Gage Smith and mom Tiffany Winslow stopped by CHKD to present a check for $220 from Gage’s 11th Birthday where he collected donations for the kids at the hospital in lieu of gifts.

Camslant and MSRT Chesapeake of the United States Coast Guard stopped by CHKD to drop off toys for the kids.

CHKD Change Bandits got together to wrangle up spare change throughout the hospital and satellite locations on Friday, November 20th. They raised $1,505.04!

Kelly Holschuh from the Chesapeake Square Rita’s and Peppino Panecaldo from the Norfolk’s stopped by to present CHKD with checks from 7 Rita’s locations that participated in a fundraiser for CHKD. All 7 locations were able to raise a total of $1,389 for the hospital.

Students from Kim’s Hapkido in Virginia Beach held a Kick-a-thon on September 19th to benefit the hospital. The kick-a-thon raised over $2,400!

The 3rd Annual Lytle Law 5k was held May, 16, 2009. With over 700 participants Lytle Law was able to raise $15,000 for CHKD!

The Outback Steakhouse on Laskin Road in Virginia Beach celebrated their grand re-opening in May by raising money to support CHKD’s Health and Surgery Center at Princess Anne. Pictured here is the restaurant’s management team. 50% of the opening night’s sales were donated to the hospital, a total of $5,000!

During the 2009 Employee Phone-a-thon, employees volunteered to stay after work to call past donors to the hospital and ask them to renew their gift. The team from 94.9 The Point (including Morning Show hosts Chuck, Heather and Woo-woo) present CHKD with a check at the end of their 4-day Radiothon to benefit the hospital. More than $229,000 was raised for the kids!

Representatives from Golden State Foods presented a $2,000 donation to Karen Gershman and Babs Benson with CHKD. The gift will support the Healthy You weight management program.

Miss Virginia Tara Wheeler joined the family of CHKD patient Jacob Ralston at the Norfolk Admirals game on November 29th, which supported the hospital's Childhood Cancer program. They had the honor of dropping the puck to start the game.

The Red Hatters from Senior Station in Portsmouth dropped by the hospital in November to give a donation raised at events throughout the year. The ladies brightened up the lobby with both their colorful outfits and their joy in helping the children!

The students of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia at James Madison University raised more than $300 for the hospital during their “Rock for CHKD” fundraiser held in September.

Delia Etheridge with Food Lion in Kill Devil Hills presents CHKD's Brenda Kuntz with a check for $10,000 raised during the store's Second Annual Outer Banks Charity Auto Show. The weekend featured a light/sound show on Friday night followed by the car show on Saturday. Many prizes were awarded and a great time was had by all!

Rita's on 21st Street in Norfolk and Providence Road in Virginia Beach are selling Children's Miracle Network balloons through the month of August to benefit CHKD. The DiSilvestro family- from left, Harry and Theresa DiSilvestro, with Cyndi and Tony DiSilvestro - owners of YNOT Pizza, visited the hospital in August to present a check from their June 2008 fundraising event. To celebrate the restaurant’s 15-year anniversary, YNOT held a day where large cheese pizzas cost only $3.99, with all proceeds going to the hospital. $3,000 was raised for the kids at CHKD!

Great Clips stylists from salons around Hampton Roads teamed up for a Cut-a-thon on Friday, August 1st at the Norfolk Tides game at Harbor Park. The event capped off a month of fundraising in the salons as part of the “Great Needs, Great Deeds” program. Haircuts were free with a $10 donation to CHKD, and the stylists’ chairs were full all night long. Over $500 was raised for the hospital!

The Foster family and friends raised $240 for CHKD's Childhood Cancer Program by hosting a LemonAid stand at St. Bride's Church and Irwin's Pharmacy in July. Ace Phillips, a CHKD patient, participated in the LemonAid campaign to support the Childhood Cancer Program at CHKD. He raised money by selling cups of lemonade for $1 at a branch of Virginia Educator Credit Union, where his mother works.

Her son has been in the NICU for months and she enlisted the station’s help to show her thanks. Representatives from Hall Automotive and their families came by Telethon to present a check for $114,100 from their annual holiday campaign to benefit CHKD. During the month of December, Hall donates $50 to the hospital for each car sold.

Nick Manning, Virginia’s Children’s Miracle Network Champion Child for 2008, and his family visited Telethon to share their story with Janet Roach of WVEC-13. As part of being the Champion Child this year, Nick and his family got to visit Disney World and Washington, D.C., where they met President Bush.

Telethon had many special guests this year, including Curly the Ice Cream Cone from Dairy Queen and Santa Claus, who found time in his busy summer vacation schedule to visit CHKD.

Representatives from Ocean Lakes High School present the hospital with a check for $5,210 from their Dolphin Dash 5k event, held in May. This annual event caps off the school’s Founder’s Week celebration.

The team from The Keith Hinton Group joined together in May to put on their first annual Spring Gala to benefit CHKD. Guests of the event generously donated over $15,000 to support programs at the hospital.

CHKD recently presented the employees of Valley Foodservice with a plaque in appreciation for their fundraising throughout the year. The Valley Foodservice team supports the hospital through employee giving, which the company matches.

Employees at Wal-Mart #5253 on Grassfield Parkway in Chesapeake held a Peep Eating Contest over the Easter holiday to raise money for CHKD through their Children’s Miracle Network Fundraising. Visit your local Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores throughout the year to see what fun things they come up with to benefit CMN and CHKD!

Linda Clukey and Linda Bostrack of Cruisefinders Travel stopped by the hospital with a gift from their February 2008 “Kem Hughes Memorial Cruise”. During the cruise, a group of almost 40 travelers visited various ports throughout the Caribbean and raised $2,160 along the way!
