94.9 The Point Radiothon, 2012
Beginning Wednesday, December 5th, at 6 a.m. and running through Saturday, December 8th, at 5 p.m., 94.9 The Point will host their annual Radiothon to benefit Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters.
Tune in and hear the amazing stories of CHKD patients who overcame great odds to survive illnesses and traumatic events.
Stories like Ethan Konrad's.
When Ethan was 2 years old, he started showing odd symptoms. His mother Jennifer said Ethan (pictured to the right) started to flop over like "a rag doll."
Jennifer and Ethan's father Mark took Ethan to Portsmouth Naval and he was referred to CHKD, where he was diagnosed with Guillaine-Barre syndrome, a disorder in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the nervous system.
Ethan's case was serious and required intensive physical therapy, some of it in CHKD's therapy pool at the Oakbrooke Health and Surgery Center in Chesapeake. Today, Ethan continues to undergo therapy, but is a social dynamo and an incredibly happy child despite everything he's faced.
Ethan's is just of of the remarkable stories you'll hear when you tune into to hear Chuck and Woo Woo, The Morning Point's crew, when they broadcast the Radiothon live from the CHKD lobby in Norfolk.
