High Calorie Snacks for Toddlers

Listed below are snack ideas for children ages two and above.

  • Egg Nog (Do NOT use eggnog made at home with raw eggs due to risk of infection)
  • Granola Bars, Nutrigrain® bars (Be cautious with raisins because toddlers may choke on these)
  • Small Sandwiches
    Egg salad, tuna, bologna, cheese, peanut butter, chicken salad, or ham
  • Graham Crackers with Cream Cheese or Peanut Butter
  • Banana or Peeled Apple Slices with Peanut Butter
  • Peanut Butter & Jelly on Crackers
  • Frozen Banana on a Stick Dip in fudge sauce; roll in flaked coconut and freeze
  • Hot or Cold Cereal with Whole Milk or Half and Half
    Add dry milk powder, sugar, honey, and/or butter to increase calories
  • Pudding or Custard
    Try adding dry milk powder for extra protein, or try topping with whipped cream
  • Cookies and Milk
    Oatmeal, peanut butter, or molasses
  • Yogurt with Fruit
    Add honey, dry cereal, jelly, canned fruit, or chocolate chips to increase calories
  • Milkshakes
    May use Carnation® Instant Breakfast with whole milk and ice cream
  • Nestle ® Chocolate or strawberry flavored milk
  • Cheese and Crackers
  • Whole grain waffles with butter and syrup
  • Cream Soup with Crackers
  • Vegetables with Cheese Sauce
    Try broccoli, peas, or cauliflower
