The participant will be able to:
- State current diagnostic measures and treatment modalities for the high-risk mother, fetus and neonate.
- Recall outcome data on selected cases of patients referred from regional hospitals and identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
- Describe care and stabilization of the maternal and neonatal transport process to ensure safe and orderly transport of patients.

Insights into Autism

Conference Overview: Update and advancement in the detection and diagnosis of autism through genetics and neuro-imaging along with therapeutic approaches providers should consider.
Objectives: Through this conference, participants will be able to: Discuss the newest research related to functional imaging and detect autism. Develop a therapeutic approach for the use of psychopharmacology adn psychotherapy in patients with autism.
Audience: This conference is designed for pediatricians, neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, licensed counselors, occupational therapists, speech therapists, art therapists, special education teachers and other interested allied health professionals.
Continuing Education (non-physician): All participants will receive a CE certificate for 5.75 hours of continuing education.

Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP)

This comprehensive LAMP training program is designed for SLPs, family members, and therapists who want to learn new AAC skills and strategies that can enhance the lives of ASD individuals. The workshop examines the current research and the history of augmenting speech for people with ASD. Participants will study communication assessment and augmentative implementation procedures, with an emphasis on the use of multi-modal communication systems. Participants will also receive a complimentary copy of the LAMP Training Manual, which provides detailed instruction on using leading AAC devices to encourage the development of communication among those with ASD.

Clinical Approach to the Evaluation and Treatment of Congenital Muscular Torticollis

With the implementation of the back to sleep program by the American Academy of Pediatrics,
therapists are noting an increased incidence of children with positional torticollis and
plagiocephaly (flattening of the head). This program presents guidelines for successful
examination and progression of treatment and discharge for patients with torticollis. Guidelines
incorporate current evidence and accepted treatment strategies. Short video case presentations
will demonstrate treatment techniques followed by discussion. Includes 3 hours of home study
prior to the course.
This course content was developed by Pediatric Rehabilitation Department of the Hospital for
Special Surgery.

Therapeutic Interventions in Neonatal Care

This course will take the therapist through the life cycle and normal development of an infant in a NICU setting. It will cover assessment of the high risk infant as well as the implementation of various treatment techniques based on evaluative findings. A portion will be dedicated to infant follow-up and identification of emerging disabilities. The philosophy of the course is to provide therapy with a family centered and developmental care approach in order to maximize outcomes when treating this specialized population. For those who desire to start a therapy program, or who recognize the need for change in existing programs, the course will conclude with a section on understanding staff dynamics and suggestions on how to facilitate teamwork in their own nurseries.
